Voluntary Action Swindon was formed in
1932 as the Swindon Council for Social Services, administering help to the
unemployed and disadvantaged. In the 75 years of its existence, the organisation
has been at the forefront of social and community action and support in Swindon.
In 1997, when the Swindon Borough Council changed to a unitary authority, the
name was changed to Voluntary Action Swindon.
